As a fifth generation San Franciscan, Don MacLean knows a lot about the city – its people, its history, its infrastructure. And with 50+ years in the concrete construction industry, it’s safe to say he’s an expert on that, too. In 1985, he left his job as president of a Bay Area construction company to set up his own shop with just two employees. Nearly 30 years later and with some 50,000 yards of concrete poured, Donald S. MacLean Inc has one of the best reputations in the business. 

In 2000, Matt MacLean joined the DSM team as vice president. Graduating with a Masters in Architecture from Tulane University in 1995, his first job out of college was designing and overseeing the San Francisco International Airport expansion. It was during that project that he realized his passion lay with being in the field rather than behind a desk. Taking DSM into the future and building on what his father has started is a tremendous point of pride and a responsibility that he considers a true honor.

Our handpicked crew of cement masons, laborers and carpenters is 100% union and all of our foremen have 20+ years of experience. By intentionally keeping the company at a manageable size, Don and Matt are able to oversee every aspect of every project.
